A Chronicle of My Summer in India, by Paul Jay
(Note: My photographs from the trip are now up on a new website. Just click here to go to the site)
This summer I was thrilled to join a group of educators for a trip to India funded by a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship. The trip was generously organized by two Oakton Community College faculty members, Madhuri Deshmukh and Katherine Schuster. Our main aim was to explore the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi's work in India. This blog contains a narrative of my trip, including my own thoughts about the provocative issues we confronted over the course of many discussions with social activists in India. I’ve also provided links to most of the destinations we visited. Click here to visit my academic website. My email address is pjay@luc.edu. Feel free to post comments and suggestions.

It is interesting how globalization can send us out into the world, but at the same time keep us closer to our familial and scholarly roots.
I took your class once on Global Literature. I still keep a copy of Omeros, Moth Smoke and A Small Place on my book shelf. Going through your many blogs was refreshing.
All the best.
